We designed a new bicycle lighting which is mounted on the spokes of the bike. The innovation is that it generates electricity without external power, using kinetic energy. The wheel-mounted lighting units emit light in a directed manner during rotation (white LEDs at the front, red at the rear) at a certain range, so that a static sixteenth / eighth / quarter arc is visible on the rotating wheel. The principle of operation is that the electronics calculate the elapsed time during one circuit and calculate it from the next circuit by switching the voltage on the LEDs in front so that only e.g. quarter round.
